Rivers of Light

Made its debut on Feb 17th, It combines live performances with floating set pieces, soaring musical scores, fountains and more in a celebration of animals and nature.

Each animal spirit guide represents a different element: An African Elephant and her calf embody EARTH; a Turtle and he baby signify WATER; a Great Horned Owl and her owlets symbolize the SKY; and an Asian Tiger represents FIRE.

You are seated in an amphitheater alongside the Discovery River, the animal spirit guides are introduced before the show even begins. You may hear them in the distance or spot their shadows moving across the tree canopy on the opposite riverbank.

When the show begins, the mystical storytellers, Aseema and Aditya, set out on their vessels to bring the gift of light to the river. They tell their stories on their respective sails using intricate Balinese shadow puppets of each of the four creatures. The Animal spirit guides are then brought forth in the form of four, larger- than- life -Asian -inspired lantern floats.

As they make their way across the Discovery River, each animal springs to life and travels across the River's towering water curtains. The animal Spirit guides lead you through a visual celebration of earthly and ethereal animal realms- Asian jungles, African savannahs, tropical oceans, North American mountains- which ends in the Aurora Borealis (known in some cultures as the sky's "Rivers of Light") **courtesy of Disney parks blogs
** This show is included with your park pass and you can reserve a fast pass spot on your my Disney experience, but you can also get a reserved spot for viewing if you book a dining package this can be done at the 180 day window.

Star Wars Fans a new meet and greet...

Disney parks Blogs also released that BB-8, the loyal droid from Star Wars, the Force Awakens, will begin character meet and greets at the Star Wars Launch Bay. BB-8 will appear in addition to Chewbacca and Kylo Ren.

Two new landsStar Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land – are currently under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®. But today we’re sharing a look at another area of the park that’s undergoing its own transformation.

Muppets Courtyard, along with a portion of the former Streets of America, is being re-imagined by Walt Disney Imagineering to become a new area called Grand Avenue. Inspired by the revitalization and the vibrant culture of present-day downtown Los Angeles, Grand Avenue is where vintage office buildings and warehouses are being converted to exciting new uses. You will soon see facades for “merchants” appearing in this area for a music shop, loft apartments, a tailor and more, with each window on the street featuring charming displays.

A highlight of Grand Avenue is sure to be BaseLine Tap House, which takes over a former F&B location. This new corner pub will feature California beers and wines along with a selection of small bites.

The current Muppets Courtyard will become Grand Park, an urban square off Grand Avenue surrounded by shops and restaurants like PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. You can already see changes in the area, with the Muppets theater being renamed “Grand Arts Theatre” and boasting a brand-new marquee. But, not to worry – Kermit, Miss Piggy and the gang continue to star in their hilarious and irreverent “Muppet*Vision 3D” show.

Grand Avenue will be opening to Guests this fall. **courtesy of Disney Destinations
